Woodford Recce Weekend
4th July 2023

What a great weekend, cold yes but a lot fun................
The Caloundra and Gold Coast Clubs got together at Woodford Showgrounds for the first of what will be many recce weekends as we make preparations to host the 2024 Corroboree with drives planned for the Glasshouse Region
40 members in total so a very good turn out with the cold weather predicted.
Friday afternoon members roll in and set up camp and things turned for the better when the a local fella arrived with our firewood and enjoyed a night around the fire pits.
Saturday morning more members arrived as we organised everyone into groups of 3 cars and each leader was given a track to recce. So armed with a GPS off we went.
Following the tracks that were used for the 2016 Corroboree it soon became obvious that as expected the track gradings will need some work.
The track that myself, Nigel, Rod and Rob went on called Captain Thunderbolt had gone from blue to double black in some parts, so we made a few u-turns as we tried different tracks to keep with the grading and finally manage to make our way around the canon sized ruts and completed our track up near Peachester.
Back at camp it was a very familiar story as groups arrived back telling us how much fun they had and look forward to more tracks on Sunday.
One group from Gold Coast were taking longer than expected to come back so after a few phone calls it was revealed that a stick had gone into the fuel filter od Murray's big v8 Patrol, and he had to be towed out of the track.
While out on the tracks the girls went op shopping not just in Woodford but also out at Kilcoy and somehow at one point while in the shops realised they lost Danielle.
With everyone back we had happy hour before heading to the pub for dinner and of curse to watch the footy.
After dinner, it was back to camp to enjoy some great company around the fire.
Sunday morning after a very slow start, actually 10 O'clock the groups headed out for another round of recce's with more great stories. While they were out Chris, Darren and myself went on a tour with the caretaker looking at what facilities we would be able to use for the event to help with our planning.
All in all I think it was a very successful weekend. Thank you to all the members from both clubs who attended for a fantastic weekend.
